Every Wolverine Movie Performance Ranked Worst To Best

3. X-Men 2

Wolverine Hugh Jackman
Fox

Wolverine may have been slightly rough and unrefined during his 2000 X-Men debut, but X-Men 2 is the moment when the character truly came into his own, transforming into the hero fans currently know and love.

For a start, the action set pieces are incredible. Watching Wolverine taken down Stryker's men towards the end, saving a host of students as troops enter the X-Mansion is exhilarating as hell, and showcases not just Wolverine's amazing combat prowess, but also the fact that he actually has a heart and cares for other people (people distinct from Jean Grey).

Wolverine's character arc in X-Men 2 is one of the strongest the character has ever had. His bitter rivalry with Stryker remains one of the most compelling superhero conflicts on-screen, and it's a large part of the reason by X-Men 2 is still considered one of the best superhero movies ever.
