21. Dark Phoenix

Appeared In: X-Men: The Last Stand & Dark Phoenix

Somewhat confusingly, there is only one Jean Grey in the X-Men movie universe - she's just played by two different actors and her life was changed dramatically by the the shift in the timeline after the events of Days Of Future Past. But she still ended up losing herself to the Dark Phoenix in both cases.

The first time (chronologically at least) came in Dark Phoenix, when Jean was transformed thanks to a space accident (cough nobody mention The Fantastic Four cough) and then lost control to the alien/energy force within her. She killed Mystique but for the most part she just went around looking moody with fire veins, so it's hard to rank her high.

The version we saw in The Last Stand was at least more of an impact, but she lacks drive and focus and is too easily manipulated by Magneto. Plus, her murder of Cyclops is still troublingly nonsensical. Two attempts, no wins.
