Evil Dead: 10 Grooviest Franchise Moments So Far

3. The Blood Geyser & The Laughing

After Ash cuts his own hand off, it starts crawling all around the cabin by itself, eventually sneaking into the wall. When Ash shoots in that direction, he's pretty sure he killed the thing, and then out of absolutely nowhere a freaking geyser of blood floods out and he goes flying across the room.

Then, more and more blood keeps coming from all directions. What is even happening? The movie has absolutely no rules at this point, and it's glorious. It's as if this whole thing is a Tom and Jerry cartoon, and Ash is Tom.

In the same scene, we get another iconic moment: again out of nowhere, the deer head on the wall turns towards Ash and starts laughing. A nearby lamp joins in, and then so do the books, and the cabinet, and...just, what? Ash, going as insane as anyone would in this situation, starts laughing along with them, walking into the center of the room and bouncing up and down.

Not only that, but he actually turns and looks directly into the camera while cackling. The film has officially lost its mind.

Part of what's so great about Evil Dead is Raimi's willingness to go there and show us something truly different, and seeing a geyser of blood followed by a laughing lamp certainly meets that criteria.
