Exact Reasons These 10 Sequels Were Never Made

5. It Was Too Expensive (Again) - World War Z 2

The idea of a second World War Z movie wasn't one too many fans were particularly convinced was going to actually happen until David Fincher surprisingly appeared in the director's chair and everything seemed to lurch forward into actual production activity. And then, just as quickly, it all ground to a halt and died.

And the reason we won't get to see it - unless someone like Netflix decides they REALLY want to make it - is because Paramount refused to relive the mistakes of the past. They'd already had to bring Damon Lindelof into the first movie late on to rewrite the third act and save an escalating budget and unfortunately for fans wanting to see Fincher and Brad Pitt reunited, they grew increasingly uncomfortable with the way the balance sheet was headed (per Variety) and pulled the plug.
