Exciting news for the RED DAWN remake

Unless you are a real film geek, you probably won't have heard of Dan Bradley but I'm pretty sure you have seen his work. You know all the close contact fighting, the rooftop sequence, the car chases in the last two Bourne movies? That was his work.

Or the fighting footage from the upcoming Quantum of Solace which you saw in the trailer. The Venom/Spidey fight in Spider-Man 3, that was his too. You will have also seen him direct second unit on flicks as big as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Lions for Lambs, Superman Returns and eh, The Dukes of Hazzard. He is of course, one of the best stunt coordinators and assistant directors in the business. Lord knows how it has taken him so long to take the leap into solo directing but today The Hollywood Reporter claim it will happen. Bradley has signed up to direct the Red Dawn remake from a Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia, Red Eye) script. The original film was about a group of American rebels fighting Soviet forces and a group of guerilla tactics employed by American students in Colorado. It starred Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen among others. It is famous for being the first film to ever be released with a PG-13 rating and was considered to be one of the most violent films ever made back in the mid 80€™s.
"The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in," says Ellsworth, who was 11 when the original was released. "As 'Red Dawn' scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"
Ok, so remakes suck... but Dan Bradley is the frikkin' man. This is easily as exciting as Frank Miller making his directing debut this year.
