Remember the absolutely insane hype that surrounded Pokemon Go when it first launched? People were literally walking off cliffs and running out in front of cars in order to catch their favourite Pokemon. Yeah, it was mental. But it also became glaringly obvious that other properties were keen to cash in on the craze.

It didn't take long before people began to notice similarities between catching Pokemon and Fantastic Beasts - after all, Newt wanders around New York City in an attempt to capture bizarre, magical creatures and store them in his suitcase.

The prevalent rumour was that Warner Brothers had instructed an app developer to make a Fantastic Beasts themed version of the game, allowing players to use a wand to capture magical creatures through augmented reality.

It turned out, however, that the "news" website that reported the rumour had completely made it up, themselves attempting to capitalize on the insane Pokemon craze. Boo!
