Fantastic Beasts: 21 WTF Moments
20. Newt Scamander And The Inadequate Suitcase
Speaking of the suitcase, what exactly possessed Scamander to believe that a suitcase with a faulty clasp that massively dangerous, hugely valuable magical creatures in didn't need to be in full working order?
He should easily know how to fix things, given that the Reparo charm is LITERALLY easy enough for a child born to Muggles who hasn't yet gone to Hogwarts is able to wield it (as Hermione does in The Philosopher's Stone). And yet he allows the catch on the case to be broken, knowing full well not only that the creatures could escape but also that he will be checked by Muggle customs officials.
Or you know, he could have had some sort of door inside the enchanted space within stopping the creatures from just being able to walk out of it when they're unguarded. It's almost like he isn't a responsible adult.
