Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: 8 Possible Harry Potter Cameos
5. Elphias Doge
When Dumbledore planned to go on his grand tour after graduating Hogwarts, he didn't plan on going alone. Elphias Doge (later dubbed Dodgy Doge and Dogbreath Doge by questionable journalist Rita Skeeter in her book The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore) was to be Dumbledore's travel buddy on the road. Unfortunately for these old friends, their trip was never meant to be. The pair were staying at the Leaky Cauldren and preparing for their first destination Greece when they got news that Dumbledore's mother had died. Doge stayed to support his friend through the funeral before departing for the trip without Dumbledore, agreeing to write him letters from the road. One of the things Doge talked about was his narrow escape from a Chimaera, one of the Fantastic Beasts that end up in Newt Scamander's book. The Chimaera is a rare Greek monster with the head of a lion, the tail of a dragon and the body of a goat. It gets a XXXXX classification in Newt's finished book, being described as a vicious, bloodthirsty, and extremely dangerous beast that has only ever been slain once in recorded history, with the Wizard in question dying soon after from exhaustion. Fantastic as it sounds, the Chimaera isn't something Newt is going to want to tackle alone, and it seems likely that the writer will encounter a young Elphias when documenting the animal.
