Fantastic Beasts: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

14. Frank The Thunderbird

The first main Fantastic Beast who actually affects the plot - in a fairly convoluted, frankly weird way in the end - Frank is the least charismatic of the big creatures. He's a regal sort of figure, aesthetically based on Fawkes the Phoenix from the Harry Potter books, and the idea of him is pretty cool (based on the North American mythological symbol), but he doesn't get much chance to shine.

When he does burst out into the plot (after an initial appearance that shows off his powers a little), he's hamstrung slightly by the fact that his method of obliviation is just plain stupid. Are we not supposed to believe that there will be some humans who aren't either in the rain or drinking water or showering at that exact moment? That's a fairly big plot hole, but you can't really hold it against Frank.

And he's an impressive looking beast all the same. Just hasn't got a personality like the others.
