Just as the film finally kicks into gear with the central conflict is exactly the moment where it also begins to suffer from Bad Superhero Movie Syndrome.

Without giving away what happens, the movie's climactic battle is against a very specific, very generic type of enemy that we've seen many, many times before in the blockbuster arena, and it's just not very engaging to watch unfold again.

It doesn't help that, as mentioned, Yates isn't the best action director, and he drags the fight on for a long, long time. It's more exhausting than enjoyable, which is probably the movie's biggest crime when it's all said and done.
