Fantastic Four: 10 Moments From The Comics It Will Feature

8. The N-Zone

This is an obvious one, especially as the team could be seen standing in the alternate dimension (that's what it is in the comic books at least) at the end of the teaser trailer. What role will it play in the movie though? The Fantastic Four's original origin story revolves around them stealing a rocket ship, heading into outer space, and getting bombarded by mysterious "cosmic rays". Simply put, it's all outdated and very '60s. The Ultimate Comics on the other hand turned the Negative Zone/N-Zone into something Reed Richards discovered as a youngster, and it's this which eventually catches the attention of the government. Hoping to explore this newfound dimension, a teleportation gate is assembled. However, when things go horribly wrong, Reed, Sue, Johnny, Ben, and Doom are all teleported across the planet and receive very different powers in the process. That experiment takes place in the Nevada desert in the comics, but it looks like they conduct it in the Baxter Institute itself in the movie. That doesn't really make a huge difference, though it seems as if the appearance of the gateway will be altered quite a bit.
