7. Doom's Machinations
The reason that this experiment goes wrong is of course Doctor Doom. He has nothing to do with the Fantastic Four receiving their powers in the 616 Universe, but in the Ultimate one he takes it upon himself to alter Reed's calculations ahead of the teleportation experiment which ends up sending them all to the N-Zone and bringing them back immediately with powers. The movie following this path is pretty much a guarantee. Including "Doom" (who is probably part of the Baxter Institute thanks to his skills as a hacker) this way is a smart move, and eliminates the necessity for an additional and separate origin story for the villain. Like the version in the 2005 movie, it's thought that he will end up receiving a metal skin and any number of abilities - possibly control over electricity, depending on which comics Trank has decided to pick and choose from - at a similar time. One thing which is unknown is whether or not he will be scarred. That's obviously a massive part of the character, but if he is given a metal hide and appearance, he won't be needing a mask. Some leaked set photos unfortunately provided no additional clues.
