Dr. Doom
What went wrong last time... While the Fantastic Four have a great selection of villains, it's a safe bet to assume that the reboot will utilize Dr. Doom. He's arguably the most iconic of their rogues gallery, and he strikes an evil, imposing figure in any media in which he's used. To see what was wrong with Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom, all you need to do is listen to his voice. There's nothing wrong with Mr. McMahon in the right role, and one could argue that his non-armored Victor von Doom was passable, but when in costume his voice was almost comically wimpy. Sure they added that talking-through-metal filter to it, but it still sounded rather... affable, no matter what he was doing. If you need one scene in particular, check out the climactic fight scene when he calls out to an invisible Sue Storm with "Marco... Polo..."
Going forward... So who should be chosen to play Victor in the reboot? My choice, hands down, is True Blood and Generation Kill actor Alexander Skarsgard. He's a large, imposing man with the European charm and looks to play a pre-suit Victor, and anyone who's watched True Blood knows he can do fantasy-laden material with gravity. Also, no one seems to have really definitively nailed down what a Latverian accent sounds like, so his recognizably European yet entirely decipherable cadence would add the slight foreign tinge to the character that usually seems to be missing.
