Fast And Furious: Hobbs & Shaw - 7 Ups And 2 Downs

4. The Cameos

Criminal Ryan Reynolds
Summit Entertainment

For a while now we've known that Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart were going to appear in the film in some capacity, but no one could have predicted that either would have as much impact on the plot as they did. Well...one of them did at least.

Kevin Hart plays a sky marshal who is introduced to the main cast because he overhears them arguing on a plane. The scene is pure plot maguffin as it allows the pair access to air transport later in the film, but to be honest we're all really here for the sheer comedy that Hart exudes in any role he's in. From his low fake grumbling voice to present "he's hard" to his office being a bathroom it's a nice slice of comedy in a film full of these moments. He's treated with much more dismissal than he deserved by our trio but still, it's entertaining.

However it's with the arrival of Ryan Reynolds that things take a turn; not only was he run as Agent Locke utterly hilarious (showcasing that classic Reynolds charm and smarm) but it actually held importance to the future of this spin-off franchise. At the end of the film we're treated to a setup for a potential sequel and also the survival instincts of Locke that make a suggestion that not only might Reynolds return BUT ALSO might actually have more of a combat role within it.

Regardless of this point, Locke has some of the best jokes in the film and his presentation comes across as never really taking in the horrible situations he's in seriously, and when you consider the film, can you blame him?

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
