Arguably the most promising announcement to emerge so far is that Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron will be joining the franchise as Fast 8's new villain, Cipher.

The cast and crew have promised she'll be the most dangerous villain yet, but it's also been stated that she's a sympathetic baddie of sorts too.

No word yet on how large her role will actually be (there have been conflicting reports about how long she was on set), but considering her acting caliber and the vicious intensity she brought to Mad Max: Fury Road last year, her presence can only be a damn good thing for the series.
