It says a lot about Elena that her best work in the franchise comes when she's killed off.

This franchise TRULY hated Elena, who was introduced in Fast 5 as Agent Hobbs' understudy and translator in Brazil, and whose tragic backstory includes the death of the love of her life. Luckily for her, Dom Toretto then ruins her life by seducing her, getting her secretly pregnant, dumping her for his not-actually-dead ex and making it impossible for her to tell him about their child for a year because of the longest honeymoon of all time, or something.

And to crown all of that, just because she's still in the way of Dom's life (and a new way for him to say FAMILY and mean it), she's killed off in Fate... without much of a second thought. But at least she represents something to the narrative and her brief captivity is quite emotional - or it would be if she at all mattered as a person...
