Fast & Furious: Ranking The Series From Worst To Best

4. The Fast & The Furious

And here's the one that started it all. Without this one, there would be no other. Yes, it's aged horribly and looks more mid-90s than 2001, but there's an undeniable charm to the characters which even Rob Cohen's relatively flat direction can't ruin. Essentially a remake of the classic action flick Point Break, The Fast and the Furious filled a cultural niche by bringing street racing to the big screen cross-pollinated with a heist movie, and the results were terrifically entertaining. Nobody could have imagined where the series would go from this first entry, but with its nitrous-infused car chases, bada** characters, sexy ladies and general absurdity, it was and continues to be a breath of fresh air. Best Scene: The climactic race between Dom and Brian, in which Dom crashes his car and Brian gives him his own car to escape from the cops. Again, it's a total Point Break rip-off, but it works. Worst Scene: The hilariously cringe-worthy fight scene between Brian and Dom's pal Vince (Matt Schulze), involving ridiculous dialogue about tuna sandwiches (which is gleefully referenced again in Furious 7), and the ear-assaultingly bad song, "Watch Your Back".
