6. The Nasty Tasties of Their Dominant/Submissive Relationship
If you are not above the age of 18 do not read the rest of this article. It's about to get real. For those of you still unfamiliar with the type of relationship that Christian and Ana hold it is often referred to by the term BDSM. Don't! Google that term. While the origin of the term is unclear it is believed to represent the separate words of bondage and discipline/sadism and masochism. Broken down in plain English this basically means that one partner is "dominant" in the relationship will the other is "submissive" or that one likes to inflict pain (sadistic) and the other enjoys receiving it (masochistic). My question is what young virgin girl would fall for a guy who is pretty up front about being into this. Attraction aside the first thing Christian does when Ana admits to being open to bang him is he takes her into a room filled with bondage toys. Then he tells her she will have to sign a contract to not tell anyone. Then he realizes she's a virgin. How will they get away with this in a mainstream movie? BDSM does not usually grace the screen with its presence for a very good reason. The film can either pull a hard R where many of the female audience members might find themselves turned off by the graphic sexuality or it could be dumbed down to be PG-13 and romantic. Fifty Shades of Grey, the romantic comedy, coming soon.
