Finding Dory: 26 Easter Eggs & References You Must See
4. Hank Is Basically Al Bundy
There's a reason Ed O'Neill's Hank the Octopus works so well as a performance and a character. He's an Octopus misanthrope, whose only wish is to left alone, is curmudgeonly, and quick to temper, but he does have a good heart buried deep. Or three in Hank's case.
He's basically the seven legged undersea version of Al Bundy, O'Neill's character in Married With Children. And it's a great irony that he ultimately realises that he does actually need family for validation and happiness.
After his Han Solo like return to the action at the end, Hank also exclaims, "Holy carp!" and separately, "Suck it, bipeds!" Both sound like particularly Bundy-like curses.
