Finding Dory Trailer Breakdown: 10 New Things We Learned

6. The Time Gap

Pixar sequels have typically jumped ahead in real time - that's what both Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 did, as well as (sigh) Cars 2 - although it looks like Finding Dory's going to be breaking from that tradition; judging by the age of Nemo and Squirt it looks like nothing close to the thirteen years in real time has passed between this and the original - it could be mere days after the end of the original. The casting for the film should have been a big clue here; child actor Hayden Rolence has replaced a now grown-up Alexander Gould as Nemo due to the earlier star being too old to play a child.
