3. “Wanna Play Skin The Cat?” - Wes Craven’s New Nightmare

Wes Craven’s New Nightmare is often not given the respect it deserves. It broke the fourth wall and gave us the actors playing themselves, while still stuck in Freddy world. We were given a darker, more evil Freddy and we got to see an awesome redo of Tina’s death scene; and on that front, New Nightmare did it better.

In a change from Tina’s murder, Julie, the feisty babysitter of Heather Langenkamp’s (who played Nancy Thompson, Freddy’s original protagonist) son, Dylan, cannot see Freddy attacking her. Dylan watches in horror as Julie is stabbed in the back and lifted into the air.

Her body is dragged, as she kicks and fights for her life, up the walls and to the ceiling, where she desperately reaches out to Dylan just before Freddy snaps her neck.
