Furious 7 Review: 15 Reasons It's The Best In The Series
9. Jason Statham Is The Best Villain Yet
Fans the world over rejoiced when Jason Statham was announced as the next villain at the end of Fast and Furious 6, identified as Han's murderer and in Furious 7, the brother of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans, who makes the briefest of cameos here, unconscious in a hospital). Intent on revenge for his brother's crippling, Shaw sets his sights on Dom and his crew, leading to the most personal vendetta in the series to date, and by virtue of Statham's amusingly grizzled performance, the most memorable villain in the entire series. While it's fair to say that the script could certainly have done more with his Deckard Shaw character (he is off screen for a lot of the movie and pretty much just appears when the next set-piece kicks off), he's a good deal more intimidating than any of the previous villains, and there's an obvious value in seeing Statham in a rare bad guy role, which he completely nails. As for what happens to his character, read on and find out, because it's probably not what you're expecting...
