Furious 7 Review: 15 Reasons It's The Best In The Series

8. Tyrese Has Never Been Funnier

One of the most entertaining aspects of these films has always been the light banter between the characters, particularly the constant ribbing of Roman (Tyrese), which continues in spades in the new movie. Perhaps most memorably, during the opening plane parachute sequence, Roman changes his mind and decides he doesn't fancy such a ridiculous deployment, but Tej (Ludacris) remotely deploys his car out of the plane, causing Roman to start screaming uncontrollably. Roman then hangs suspended in the air when his parachute malfunctions, until he shows up later in the scene to save the day. Tyrese's role in this movie is pretty much to just whine about how ridiculous the gang's schemes are and occasionally serve a functional part in the mission (such as causing a distraction at the party in Abu Dhabi), and that's just fine. He wins a lot of the film's heartiest laughs, and that's all he really needs to do.
