Furious 7 Review: 15 Reasons It's The Best In The Series
7. There Are Tons Of References To Earlier Movies
The nostalgia is really cranked up in this movie, and though it gives the impression that the script might've been reworked to exploit this more following Paul Walker's death, that's totally impossible considering that Walker delivers most of these lines. The two most memorable call-backs to earlier films are Brian going "old school" by driving his car underneath a lorry during the climactic Los Angeles set-piece in order to escape the fire of a Predator drone, and a discussion between Brian and Mia (Jordana Brewster) about how terrible Mia's tuna sandwiches were (referencing a scene in the original when Brian and Vince fight). It'll be tough for hardcore Fast and Furious fans not to crack a smile (and maybe even feel a little choked up) at these two references, and that's without even mentioning the fact that the Toretto house of course gets blown up by Deckard Shaw in the first act of the movie.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
