Ghost In The Shell: 15 Recent Sci-Fi Movies That Were Far Superior

Life probably owes a little too much to Ridley Scott's Alien, but it's nevertheless a tightly-wound, claustrophobic, visually stunning and sharply-acted sci-fi about an alien life-form invading a human spacecraft and attempting to find its way to Earth.

Rebecca Ferguson in particular does strong work as a tenaciously logical and determined scientist Hell-bent on ensuring the creature doesn't reach the rest of humanity, but it's the alien itself, Calvin, who ultimately steals the show.

A uniquely unsettling creation with some truly sinister ways to dismantle the poor saps trapped in a tin can with it, it really is quite a shame this didn't turn out to be the Venom origin tale many comic book fans hoped it would be.
