And finally, because just about every big blockbuster trailer is doing it these days, the trailer of course features a slow, morose cover of an upbeat pop song, in this case of Depeche Mode's classic Enjoy the Silence, as performed by Ki:Theory.
It's clearly effective with mainstream audiences, which is why Hollywood keeps abusing the idea, but casuals are going to get fed up with it soon enough, while film buffs already did a while ago.
We get it, remixing a fast, happy song to make it sound miserable and brooding is cool, but can we maybe try something else now?
