Ghostbusters: 11 Things That Must Happen In The Sequel
10. An Actually Interesting Villain
Easily one of the worst things about the new movie is the villain: Rowan isn't much more than a basement-dwelling nerd who gets bullied, decides he hates everyone and unleashes ghosts on New York because of it, before becoming one himself in the film's climax.
While it's fair to say that the humanoid villains of the Ghostbusters franchise have perennially been the least-interesting thing about it, it would be nice to see the next movie putting a little more effort into creating a baddie who is remotely entertaining and interesting.
For starters, maybe cast an A-list actor as the villain, give him (or her) compelling motives, ample screen time and a decent presence before they inevitably transform into a gigantic monster. Otherwise, if they're not going to make any effort, they may as well just have the ghosts randomly show up for no reason at all.
