Ghostbusters: 21 WTF Moments In The Female Remake
18. Never Feed The Trolls
It was a pretty brave move of the film to reference the storm created by sexist trolls who reacted to the film's very first announcement. It was somewhat part of the production process, and it was a nice touch to strike back (at least the first time, anyway).
But unfortunately, referencing them - and showing characters reacting with impotent rage at them - is a little too much like validating the trolls existence. In effect, the film broke the first rule of dealing with trolls, rather than simply allowing the quality of the material do the talking.
But wait... How exactly did the film know to include specific reference to Youtube comments? The first trailer, which caused so much controversy was released after filming ended, and couldn't have affected the script. So, quite hilariously, the Ghostbusters writers actually predicted the reaction to their own trailer before it was even released.
That's some next level psychic activity right there.
