Ghostbusters Ending: 8 Potential Clues For The Sequel
6. It Will Steer Even More Into The Hate
Ghostbusters may be a fine film and one that is projected to be a sizeable hit with audience, but that's not going to do anything to quell the negativity emanating from various sections of the fanbase. The majority aren't angrily typing out sexist tirades or accusing critics of being paid off for positive reviews, but there's still a sizeable group who refuse to see the film for its perceived crimes against the originals/cinema in general.
This is something those making the film are more than aware of; on top of addressing the backlash directly in interviews, the film is full of jabs at the various criticisms, some that were pre-emptive, but many that are clearly reactive. And if they'd do that on the fly or in reshoots, you can damn well bet the sequel will steer into it even more.
How exactly a film could be more pointed I'm not quite sure, but Feig and co. will no doubt find a way.
