Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Trailer Breakdown - 16 Things You Need To See

5. *Sigh* Humans Are The "Real" Monsters

As neat as the trailer (mostly) looks, there is one shamelessly cringe-worthy, on-the-nose moment that just doesn't work at all. Madison says to an unseen person, "You're a monster", and cross-cutting this with another scene featuring her mother seems to imply that she's the intended recipient of the comment.

Given that Emma may end up forcing the monsters to fight, it's easy to see why Madison might be mad that her precious Mothra is sent into battle, though calling a human a monster in a movie filled with literal monsters just feels a little too obviously circling the "humans are the real monsters" theme.

Look, nobody expects subtlety in a freaking Godzilla movie, but maybe don't lay the thematic stuff on quite so thickly, yeah?
