2. Mothra Lives On (Apparently)

Mothra was undoubtedly one of the best things about the film, simply because every time that the queen of the monsters surfaced, it was hard not to smile at her overwhelming beauty. Unfortunately, those smiles turned to tears whenever the giant butterfly was killed in action by Ghidorah before she allowed her essence to reinvigorate Godzilla.

Fear not, however, because we may not have to wait long to see Mothra again. While it's true that she did meet her demise during the film's final battle, the credits themselves also revealed that the character's legacy is set to live on, as one of those revealing newspaper headlines confirmed that Monarch discovered another "Massive Egg".

The subheading then suggests that it could be a second Mothra egg while also teasing us with the possibility that it could be something else entirely.

Mothra certainly was portrayed like an eternal celestial being, so it would be totally believable for her to be reborn, or spawn an heir that could carry on her beautiful legacy. Then again, the egg could belong to something far less godly...
