Godzilla Vs. Kong: 10 Fixes That Would've Improved It

1. Make The Human Characters Even Slightly Interesting

And finally, the biggest problem with the film is the human characters. Jia, the child character, is solid but none of the other characters really work.

Sure, none are as bad as Godzilla (2014)'s excruciatingly dull Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) or Dr Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) from that film's sequel (who's arguably one of the worst characters ever seen in a sci-fi film), but this still a largely bland and under-written line-up of characters that all have neutral, blank personalities.

In particular, the two leads, Dr Nathan Lind and Dr Ilene Andrews are about as interesting as a brick wall.

As said earlier, some of the characters should've been removed anyway and those remaining just needed to be given a bit more life. Obviously, in a film like this big character arcs weren't quite going to fit in, but the humans in this film still should've been given some memorable dialogue, personality quirks, a bit more zest - just anything to make them more lively.

Godzilla Vs. Kong is still a solid movie, but with better human characters the film would've been even stronger. If nothing else, let's hope this problem with bland characters is finally fixed in the next Monsterverse movie.
