Godzilla Vs. Kong Trailer: 10 Things To Get Excited About

1. Godzilla Is The Bad Guy

One of the most striking things about the trailer is that it seems Godzilla has grown tired of playing the good guy. For reasons unknown, he has decided to lay waste to everywhere and everyone he comes across - far from the natural saviour he has been cast as in the series to date. It is a return to his early antagonistic roots, which go all the way back to the original Godzilla (1954) when he was nothing less than an ill-tempered, rampaging beast.

Godzilla also plays heel is the animated Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (2017) and its two sequels. It depicts a world completely overtaken by the giant lizard, to the point where humanity has to evacuate the planet. The similarities between the two give us a taste of what malevolent destruction this Godzilla is capable of.

Whatever he chooses to do, the prospect of a ticked-off Godzilla laying waste to his surroundings is one teased just the right amount by the trailer. It isn't clear yet whether Kong is strong enough to stop him, but director Adam Wingard has already confirmed one important detail - there will be a clear winner of this epic fight.
