Godzilla Vs. Kong Trailer: 10 Things To Get Excited About

8. Mecha-King Ghidorah?

One of the most curious things about King of the Monsters is the post-credits scene where eco-terrorist Alan Jonah aquires one of Ghidorah's severed heads. To fans of the Godzilla franchise, this appears to be going in one direction - the introduction of Mecha-King Ghidorah to the MonsterVerse. A mechanised version of King Ghidorah, all past iterations of him have featured at least one organic head alongside the mechanical ones. He is also consistently shown to be more powerful than the organic original.

The monster's first appearance was in Toho's 1991 film Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, in which the mechanised version was brought to life to try and stop Godzilla's rampage across Japan. Similarly, from the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer it seems like Godzilla has been provoked into some kind of destructive rampage - perhaps a clue as to Mecha-King Ghidorah's involvement.

Further nods to his potential appearance include brief mentions of a mechanical giant in the newspaper clippings during the credits sequence for King of the Monsters.

Even if Monster Zero spec two is not in the new film, it seems unthinkable after all the hints that have been dropped that he won't appear at some point in the MonsterVerse.
