7. A Great Titan War
The trailer makes reference to a historic titan war, of which Godzilla and Kong are the last survivors. The scene where Kong swings a Warbat round like an Olympic hammer, it is implied, is a flashback to the height of this conflict. And such an epic fight may have left some feuds unresolved. The end of King of the Monsters sees titans - or the ones that can swim or fly at least - converging on Skull Island, and reports of seismic activity from the mysterious island.
It could be that this great war is not over, and the upcoming brawl between Kong and Godzilla is simply the spark to reignite this great conflict. Kong may tear a rift between Godzilla and the other titans - he certainly seems to have the influence to do so, if a bunch of them are suddenly headed for his home. Or it could be that they are there to try and stop him leaving the island. No need for Godzilla to get his hands dirty if he doesn't need to right?
Whatever the details, it seems clear that this great war between the titans is far from over.
