3. Why Is Kong Being Shipped From Skull Island?
The trailer opens with Kong being shipped off Skull Island in a way that mirrors the original King Kong (1933). But rather than being taken away for the sake of entertainment, Monarch have bagged the great ape to face off some unknown threat.
It is unclear what this threat actually is, although the official synposis of the film mentions some human-born conspiracy that threatens to wipe out the titans. This is another way in which Mecha-King Ghidorah could potentially fit in, or it could be that Godzilla has already gone AWOL by the time Kong is loaded onto the boat. It may also be the case that he is taken away to ensure he doesn't come to harm at the hands of the titans currently making a beeline for Skull Island.
He is joined on the aircraft carrier by a team of scientists and a child that he has developed an attachment to - who appears to be holding the Skull Island equivalent of a Build-a-Bear. He has clearly grown more attached to people since the events of Kong: Skull Island, looking genuinely distressed at the sight of a rampaging Godzilla. And Kong is not someone you want to make angry...
