Golden Globes 2018: 7 Ups & 5 Downs

3. Sam Rockwell Beats Willem Dafoe For Best Supporting Actor

Though Sam Rockwell gave a fantastic performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, this really felt like the right time for Willem Dafoe to finally win a major industry award, considering his decades of fantastic performances, the fact he's rarely ever nominated for anything, and, well, his work on The Florida Project being simply magnificent.

While the Globes ultimately have little bearing on the Oscars and Dafoe is still considered a frontrunner for that award, it's a shame he's not getting the chance to snatch up statues left and right on his way to the Academy Awards. He undeniably deserves it.

Congrats to Rockwell, but this shoudn't have been his year.
