Seth Meyers proved himself an able Golden Globes host right from his opening gambit, where he eagerly confronted the elephant in the room: sexual harassment in Hollywood.

Meyers wasted no time ripping historic monster Harvey Weinstein to shreds, telling the audience, "Don’t worry, he’ll be back in 20 years when he becomes the first person to be booed at the annual In Memoriam." Savage.

He continued with a dig at Woody Allen when talking about The Shape of Water: "When I first heard about a film where a woman falls in love with a hideous monster, I thought it was a Woody Allen movie."

And further still, he enlisted the help of Billy Eichner to throw some shade at Kevin Spacey. Meyers said, "Call Me by Your Name is a coming-of-age story", to which Eichner retorted, "Said Kevin Spacey: you lost me at ‘of age.’" Oof.

It was great to see Meyers adopting a take-no-prisoners approach from the outset and not shying away from such a pressing issue. His hosting gig may have felt lower-profile than others from recent years, but he delivered exactly what he needed to.
