Golden Globes 2019: 8 Ups & 7 Downs
1. Olivia Colman & Glenn Close Win Best Actress Awards
If the Best Actor movie awards were a little more wishy-washy, the Best Actress wins were thankfully totally on-point, and it was tough to argue with either of them.
Olivia Colman scooped a much-deserved win in the Comedy or Musical category for her stunning work as Queen Anne in The Favourite, giving a charmingly nervy acceptance speech where she referred to Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz as her "b****es."
Glenn Close won the Drama acting award for her universally-acclaimed performance in The Wife, pipping a widely-expected Lady Gaga to the post and lending added momentum as she seeks to finally win an acting Oscar on her seventh nomination.
Close made mention of how tough it is to get movies made with female protagonists while also paying tribute to her late mother, and earning a standing ovation after noting that she'll celebrate 45 years in the industry this year. Bravo.
