4. Surprise: Al Pacino - Best Actor In A Drama Series

Promising Young Woman
Amazon Studios

Al Pacino is a living legend and one of the most beloved actors working today so it shouldn't be too shocking that he received a nomination here, should it? Well, Hunters was an average show at best with predominantly boring characters and weak dialogue. It missed out on getting any nominations at last year's Emmys and it seemed reasonable to assume everyone had forgotten all about it until now.

Pacino is, to his credit, the best thing in the Nazi hunting drama. He is always compelling and shows up anyone he acts opposite (which is part of the problem). As a holocaust survivor leading a group of misfits to kill Nazis in America after the war, Pacino gets a lot of moments to show off his skills and that has clearly resulted in his nomination here.

He has no chance of winning but if this mediocre show was going to be celebrated for anything, it's fitting that it is Al Pacino.
