Golden Globes 2021: The Snubs And Surprises
5. Snub: I May Destroy You - Best Miniseries, Best Actress In A Miniseries
Michaela Coel is a creative genius who brought the world a fresh and exciting show in the form of I May Destroy You, a darkly comic look at a woman's life in the wake of a sexual assault as she tries to move on and just survive.
It is at times hilarious and other times harrowing but, at all times it is phenomenal and should have been an obvious choice for awards consideration. Coel is the star and she also gives a truly masterful performance as she attempts to navigate between emotional states of being.
I May Destroy You has a chance to bounce back come September as it attempts an Emmy push but it is a shame that like last year (Watchmen) the Golden Globes have missed out on a crucially important, resonant and ground-breaking show. Coel is a fast rising talent and she will be represented at the Globes eventually, just not this year.
