8. Moondragon
The Guardians of the Galaxy trailer already mentioned the death of Drax's wife and child. In the comics, Heather Douglas, Drax's daughter, survived the attack from Thanos and went on to become Moondragon, a major player in the Guardians' 2008 series. She has a lot to offer, if called upon. Moondragon is very formidable with telepathic and telekinetic powers. She's also highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat. Her relationship with her father brings more out of Drax than just about any other character in the story. Moondragon also has a compelling romantic relationship with another character on this list. These are all things that would have to happen in a sequel, obviously, but that doesn't mean we can't see Moondragon in some form in the first movie. Drax is on a quest for vengeance in the upcoming movie. His story works better if he still believes his daughter is dead. The young Heather Douglas could appear in a nightmarish flashback. Her survival could also be teased at some point by Thanos or Ronan the Accuser as a way of manipulating Drax. Moondragon does not have to appear on the screen in order to make an impact.
