Guardians Of The Galaxy: 10 Potential Roles For Nathan Fillion
4. Nova
When rumours began swirling of a possible appearance of Fillion in the after-credits scene, one name stood out above the rest as to who Fillion might be playing. Richard Rider AKA Nova, a character who became a huge part of Marvel's cosmic universe. Richard Rider began his superheroic career as Nova the Human Rocket before joining the New Warriors as Kid-Nova. Rider gained his powers from Rhomann Dey, last surviving member of the Nova Corps. Rider's career as Nova would eventually see him move offworld and begin rebuilding the Nova Corps before his "death" in the Cancerverse. If Fillion would be stepping into a leading role in the MCU, playing Nova would certainly be a good fit for him. We've already seen a bit on the Nova Corps, which features into Guardians of the Galaxy, and we've also seen Rhomann Dey in the trailer, played by John C. Reilly. It really seems like only a matter of time before we will see a version of Nova appear on the big screen, however whether or not it will be Fillion remains to be seen. Both Earth-versions of Nova have been young characters, as Rider started as the hero when he was in high school, similar to current Nova Sam Alexander, who also started in high school. However, the MCU is its own universe, so Fillion as Rider is still a very high possibility.
