2. Denarian Saal

Peter Serafinowicz plays Nova Corps officer Denarian Saal in the movie - but Denarian is merely his rank and that is the only name he goes by and the name of the character he is credited as playing. However, this is fairly obviously a take on the character Garthan Saal from the comic books - a Xandarian who also goes by the names Supernova and Nova Omega. He is one of the most powerful members of the Nova Corps and he is one of the few Xandarians to have survived the destruction of Xandar at the hands of Nebula - who, of course, was played by Karen Gillan in the movie - and, at one point in the comic books, he contained the power of the entire Nova Corps within his body, which increased him to the size of a giant but also drove him completely insane.
