8. The Milano

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has confirmed that Peter Quill AKA's Star-Lord's ship in the movie (which is called the "Milano") is named after his childhood crush - star of "Who's the Boss?", "Melrose Place", "Charmed" and "Mistresses", Alyssa Milano. Gunn is two years Milano's senior (he was born in 1970, she was born in 1972) and he is referring to her time on Who's the Boss?, when she played Samantha Micelli - daughter of Tony Danza's Tony Micelli - between 1984 and 1992. It's a cute little nod to something quite personal and obscure which further emphasises the creative fun Gunn likes to have when he's making his movies.
