7. Sony TPS-L2 Walkman

The Walkman that represented Peter Quill's last connection to Earth and his family, which was introduced in the opening scenes of the movie, was an authentic Sony TPS-L2 Walkman. Released in 1979 in Japan, it was released in the United States and United Kingdom a year later and was evidently still in circulation on Marvel Cinematic Universe Earth in 1988 when Quill was abducted. Back then, it was a revolutionary piece of technology (on a similar scale to the iPods of today) and the Guardians of the Galaxy prop department had to try extremely hard to find a good quality specimen for the film. They bought the only sixteen of this model that were listed on eBay over a six month period and found that only three of those sixteen actually worked.
