Guardians Of The Galaxy: 20 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

5. Xandar And The Nova Corps

Just as the Green Lantern Corps are a sort of intergalactic police force who recruit from all different planets and assign their forces to different quadrants of the galaxy to protect using some pretty baller magical powers, this universe's Nova Corps offer the same function. Only in Guardians Of The Galaxy they're represented by the goofy face of John C Reilly instead of the rugged jawline of Ryan Reynolds. Hopefully you were paying attention to all those scenes set on the Nova homeworld of Xandar, because they're going to be important going forward, as it's difficult not to suspect that there are big things coming for the Corps in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially now we've got the entire universe to be playing with. What price that when Tony Stark figures out how to actually fly his suit into space, before he gets a chance to go scuff over Neil Armstrong's footprints on the Moon he'll be tangling with a rookie Nova recruit who mistakes him for an alien invader. Rumour has it that a scene involving the Nova assigned to protecting Earth was left on the cutting room floor of Guardians Of The Galaxy, as if you need further proof that they're gonna be cropping up again soon. The scuttlebutt is that the role would be taken by the most famous Nova, Richard Rider, who played a big part in the Annihilation crossover events that involved the Guardians. Which would be a pretty good bet as the sequel.
