6. Meet The Villains: Nebula, Korath, And Ronan

The trailer opens with Quill being confronted by Korath the Pursuer, played by Djimon Hounsou. An ally of Thanos, Korath is (in the comics, anyway) a member of the Kree race, and has been augmented by experimental cyber-genetic engineering; giving him super strength, stamina, and durability. The Kree were replaced by the Chitauri in The Avengers, so it's still unclear what ties Korath may have to the race or if he's simply one of Thanos' henchmen.

The blue-skinned Nebula is played by Doctor Who alum Karen Gillan. Her character is a pirate and mercenary loyal to Thanos and has a significant and complex relationship with Gamora. The two appear to duke it out in the film, Nebula wielding twin blades, Gamora with a sword. Be prepared for some awesome fight sequences with the two of them.

Lastly we see the briefest blink-or-you'll-miss-it glimpse at the film's main villain, Ronan the Accuser. Played by Lee Pace, Ronan is visible at the 1:59 mark, holding Drax up with one hand and holding his famous longhammer weapon that can fire energy blasts, create forcefields, and give Ronan the powers of matter manipulation and flight. In the film Ronan is an admiral of Thanos who hunts down the Guardians, and has been described by Pace as a "psycho" and a "monster." So, look out for Ronan, who is sure to be one of the most formidable enemies in the Marvel cinematic universe so far.
