Guardians Of The Galaxy 2: 9 Big Implications Of Star-Lord's Father Reveal

7. Less Focus On The Infinity Stones?

Having such a potentially important character introduced as Quill's father, rather than someone who would cause less narrative shockwaves (like Yondu in a silly Star Wars clone) means there will be less room in the plot for Infinity Stones hunting. Whether James Gunn was going to focus on the discovery of another Stone remains to be seen, but there are enough loose ends to be tied up without one of the remaining stones even having to come into it. After all, The Collector still has one stone in the shape of the Aether in his possession, and Thanos probably now knows that the Nova Corps have the Power Stone on Xandar. If we're going to see the introduction of Mar-Vell and a look at his backstory (otherwise he wouldn't mean anything to anyone), then you'd have to suspect that Gunn will avoid introducing either the Time Stone or the Soul Stone in the interest of balancing Mar-Vell's story with a satisfactory conclusion to the Power Stone's story. Like the complete obliteration of Xandar.
