3. Captain Marvel Gets Her Debut

With Mar-Vell comes Captain Marvel: that's not only his other name, but also the title he eventually passed on to Carol Danvers AKA Ms Marvel after the pair were bound by power. In the comics, while working at a restricted military base as Security Chief, Danvers is caught in the explosion of a Kree device alongside Dr Walter Lawson (Mar-Vell's secret identity), and though he saves her life, she is injured badly. As a result of that episode, Danvers awakes with Mar-Vell's superhero powers, adopting the name Ms Marvel before taking over the Captain title later in the comics. It would make sense that Guardians Vol 2 would tease the same origin, bringing her in as a minor supporting character working alongside Mar-Vell when Star-Lord comes to seek him out.
